Euroboxes

When it comes to storage boxes there is only one system to consider - the mighty Euro Container. Standardised by the German auto industry (who else) A.K.A. Euroboxes are available in a range of sizes but imperatively, just that range. Think of them as the Tetris of boxes, there’s nearly always a combination to make the perfect stack. And by design the arrangement will fit perfectly on a standard Euro Pallet.

600 x 400mm is the most common size and they’re generally made of nearly indestructible plastic. Inline with the times, well about a two decade delay, more and more Euroboxes are manufactured from recycled waste and recently their versatility is making its way into homes.

The interchangeability adds an additional layer of practicality and efficiency. Traditional drawers aren’t anything new and have provided easy storage for centuries, but there’s an inherent flaw - they need emptying to change the contents. With a Eurobox one could have, say, summer clothes stacked in the loft and when the season shifts slide the winter boxes out and the summer ones in. Or take collapsable boxes to the supermarket, fill them and slide straight back into their designated slot.

The same formula works with sports gear, tools, DIY and craft materials, kids’ toys etc. There’s good reason why industry relies on these containers to streamline production and we see integrating similar storage into one’s home as a no brainer.

Time, money and space are the three key elements to life that are generally in short supply - Eurobox storage could be the silver bullet.

Here are a few other euro-picks, just in case you don’t yet believe the hype.

Waterhaul Adventure Kit Box

At the time of writing the lovely team at Waterhaul, down in Cornwall, have just released a new box made from traceable, recycled waste fishing gear. The green and blue nets, when melted down, create an attractive green colour so there’s no need for adding harmful dyes to the process. Check them out here.

Yoke Vans

Tradespeople not using Euro Containers need their heads read. Especially as some of the well known tool companies now follow the 600 and 300 x 400mm format.

Yoke Vans produce really well made fit-out kits, using incredibly durable phenolic mesh plywood.
