Ample Co
The Brooke
Despite the need for smaller properties, the briefest browse online suggests peak tiny home could have been reached. However, this collaboration from Small Not Tiny and Ample Co. is not only a cut above from a materials and design perspective but also incorporates many of the real space saving innovations required to make a diminutive space feel far from cramped.

The retracting staircase, with its overtly industrial mechanism, and the transport-oriented-raising-roof are the obvious centrepieces but it’s the more subtle ideas that meld into an exquisitely finished background.
Underfloor storage seems obvious, especially to anyone who’s been on a boat, yet it’s often omitted from most tiny homes and trailer based structures. The inclusion here isn’t overly fancy and is integrated well.
Another simple idea cunningly executed here is the kitchen backsplash which doubles as a sliding screen-come-pocket-door offering privacy to the bathroom behind. The triple whammy is the small shelved pantry revealed when the whole wall is slid across.
The entrance doors being hinged part way along their width forces a portion of their volume outward, reducing the swing space required internally and allowing the overall size to be larger thanks to the load points being supported on the horizontal frame spars. And importantly, they look great.
And perhaps the most basic yet fun element is the home office utilising the mezzanine’s height to allow one’s legs to dangle, or rest on a suspended wooden beam, while working at a hinged desk - genius.
