CAD software and CNC machinery is nothing new in the carpentry world but as the technology has finessed the costs have come down and accessibility has improved. Not only to the makers themselves, often thanks to access to communal workhubs (such as the hugely impressive Bloqs in North London), but also to the customer directly. With some firms offering online design and ordering, those with a practical flair can have a table, storage unit or complete kitchen arrive flat-packed, ready for assembly.

Again, we don’t know these outfits from a hole in the ground but we like what they’re doing.
